FACE TO FACE, An evolving portrait

Brian Eno

FACE TO FACE is the latest piece in Brian Eno's exploration of random patterns and the possibilities of combination to produce unexpected and unusual art works.

The work started life with a small group of photographs of real faces. Eighteen people who actually exist were each captured on a single still photograph. Using special software, they morph slowly from one real face to another, a pixel-by-pixel process of change. This generates a long chain of ’new humans’ in between each real one. These are people who have never actually existed, intermediate humans, thirty of them every second. In this version, 36,000 new faces will have been born.

FACE TO FACE is a special commission for Living Canvas from IPUT Real Estate.
