Hek Hek Hoo

RHA Kids X Julie Weber

In the film Hek Hek Hoo, RHA Kids (3rd class students from John Scottus and St. Enda’s Primary Schools) and artist Julie Weber examine the transformative potential of the everyday.

The collective explore rhythms, murmurations and the disruption of daily routine. Through drawing and text, and later through performances, the project constructed non-linear narratives in response to Cecilia Bullo’s exhibition, Being Haunted By the Breezes, Now How Will You Exist?, shown at the RHA in early 2023. The title Hek Hek Hoo came from one of the students’ particular response to Cecilia’s exhibition.

Julie Weber

Julie Weber is a visual artist, director, and lecturer. She examines concepts of being and becoming, creating moving image and performance works, textiles and sound compositions. Her work merges hand-made and technological methodologies to create mutated and self-reflexive forms. Through the making of these forms, Julie embraces the potential for new realities, employing speculative fiction, site and environment, and a process of relentless, rhythmic behaviour.
